Cold… rain… what to do?
For our monthly appointment with the Little Guide to Val di Cornia, we have found many useful ideas to make the most of every day of your holiday, even when the weather doesn't allow for a full day outdoors!
Between museums, food and wine tours, and thermal baths… we are sure you will find the idea that suits you!
- Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia – Piombino
It houses over 2,000 prehistoric, Etruscan, and Roman artifacts in a historic building.
Full-scale reconstructions of ancient landscapes and environments, multimedia and musical paths, videos, and exhibits make the visit educational and accessible to everyone.
Here you will find the ancient Baratti amphora, a silver masterpiece found at sea, a symbol of the Museum and the Val di Cornia territory.
- Wine tasting with Bolgheri Wine Tours
Francesca and Margarethe will introduce you to Bolgheri and its fabulous surroundings, telling you about the origins of this region and the birth of its Bordeaux and native wines. You will taste some of the best Supertuscan wines famous worldwide.
- Etruscan Museum of Populonia
The Archaeological Museum of the Territory of Populonia is an extraordinary window into the history linked to the ancient city-state of Populonia; from the Paleolithic to late antiquity, with a special focus on the Etruscans and Romans.
- Modigliani's House in Livorno
The birthplace of Amedeo Modigliani retains its charm intact. In the various rooms, an illustrative path has been set up with a series of panels to retrace Amedeo's life.
- Certosa di Calci – Natural History Museum of Pisa
Founded at the end of the 16th century as a 'Gallery' attached to the Botanical Garden of Pisa, the Natural History Museum is one of the oldest in the world.
It houses a freshwater aquarium and mineralogical, paleontological, and zoological collections. A visit suitable for the whole family!
- Doll Museum of Suvereto
Over fifty dolls are housed within the Artistic Doll Museum.
A journey that tells the evolution of fashion, styles, and materials, illustrating some of the most recent moments in Italian history.
- Aquarium Mondo Marino in Massa Marittima
In addition to the aquarium and shark nursery, it is also a Marine Environmental Education Center and home to the Shark Study Center, which conducts research on sharks in South Africa, Madagascar, and the Mediterranean Sea. With the purchase of a ticket, you also support research!
- Thermal Baths
Going to the thermal baths when it's raining means definitely finding fewer people and an even more evocative atmosphere.
In our area, there is more than one, each with different characteristics. Curious?? Then don't miss the Little Guide to Val di Cornia for March!
