In the enchanting Val di Cornia, a land rich in history, breathtaking landscapes, and vibrant culture, there are not only picturesque panoramas to savor. It is also the homeland of a culinary treasure that brings to life excellent raw materials; thanks to which some enlightened individuals have opened extraordinary pizzerias here that call to you with the promise of unforgettable experiences.
Embarking on a gastronomic journey through this splendid valley, we will introduce you to eight pizzerias that stand out not only for their appetizing pizzas but also for the unique stories and personalities behind each one. So, put on your pizza lover's hat and let's explore the best pizzerias in Val di Cornia.
Our first stop is the charming Botteghino di Canneto, nestled in the heart of Canneto Castle, where the Maio family offers a warm welcome to all. Diego, when not strumming his guitar or stargazing, crafts deliciously thin and flavorful pizzas. Gigi, with a perpetual smile, serves at the tables, and Rosella works her magic in the kitchen, preparing delightful appetizers and desserts. The Lucrezia and Diego pizzas are an absolute must-try, and the atmosphere is as comforting as the food.
The Malindi in Marina di Castagneto Carducci offers not just pizza, but an enchanting experience. As soon as you step inside, you'll feel like you've entered a magical realm, filled with intricate details and lush greenery. And the menu? It's not just about pizzas and the ubiquitous gin, but it showcases the personalities that make Malindi special. Their Neapolitan pizza will transport you straight to Naples.
At Agripizza Dr. Dove, every ingredient has a meticulously researched origin, from the anchovies of Tonnina to the caper berries. Sitting amongst the pine trees is a feast for the eyes, and don't forget to try their craft beers; the hemp one is my favorite. This pizzeria is an ode to local ingredients and artisanal meticulousness.
The Rosetti is an institution in Cecina, renowned for its top-quality dough made with fine flours and natural sourdough starter. If you're strolling through Cecina, it's impossible not to stop here for a stuffed schiacciata, a slice of pizza, or one of their fragrant sandwiches. Rosetti's legacy is undeniable.
Enter the kingdom of Gabriele and Maria, a hidden gem of the Etruscan Coast. Their pizza is a masterpiece, thanks to low-protein flours and the "Parisse method," which ensures maximum lightness and digestibility. Gabriele even designed his oven in collaboration with IGF Fornitalia to meet his demanding standards.
Ranked 78th among the best pizzerias in Italy in 2022, dining at Bottega Dani is an exploration of unexplored territories of flavor. Forget what you traditionally call pizza and prepare for a journey full of new cooking techniques, textures, consistencies, and aromas. It's an unmissable experience.
Emeline and Jarno bring the pizza experience to your home or event location; with their sourdough starter, ancient grains, and meticulously selected local ingredients.
