Baratti

Located in a picturesque bay, the beach of Baratti offers a unique landscape thanks to its Etruscan remains overlooking the sea. Here you can alternate moments of relaxation under the sun with cultural visits, exploring the ancient tombs and archaeological remains that testify to the presence of one of history's most fascinating civilizations.

Baratti's sand is mixed with small pebbles; it is very dark and shines under the sun's rays: this is because it still contains residues from the iron processing by the Etruscans who imported it from the Island of Elba.

The intensely blue sea is perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The pine forest surrounding the beach offers ideal shaded areas for a picnic or to read a good book in the cool. Baratti is the ideal place for those seeking a different day at the beach, combining nature, relaxation, and culture in a single experience.

Baratti has its own energy; it's our absolute favorite beach: during high season, it's best to arrive very early in the morning because it gets crowded and it's difficult to find parking.

Our tip for a true local experience at the beach of Baratti is to eat some fried fish at sunset at the Polpo Marino kiosk.

Rocks between Baratti and Calamoresca (Scogli del Sale and Cala Buia)

The rocks between Baratti and Calamoresca offer a unique experience for sea and nature lovers. Here you can explore two suggestive spots: Scogli del Sale and Cala Buia. Scogli del Sale, located near Baratti, are perfect for those seeking tranquility and diving in clear waters and seabeds rich in marine life. This stretch of coast is ideal for snorkeling, thanks to the variety of fish and underwater rock formations.

Between one dip and another, you can relax on the rocks and admire the surrounding landscape, immersed in an atmosphere of peace and serenity.

The main feature of Torre Mozza is the presence of an ancient submerged Roman road, visible a few meters from the shore, which creates a natural barrier. This phenomenon makes the water particularly calm and clear, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. The beach, predominantly sandy with some gravelly sections, is surrounded by lush Mediterranean scrub, offering both sunny and shaded areas.
