This summer, I had the pleasure of hosting Gaël and his wonderful family here with us. Although we only had a few days available, we tried to organize a small tour for them to get to know some gems of this territory so rich in surprises to discover. Gaël wrote a detailed article about it, made even more special by his beautiful photos. Here is the paragraph dedicated to Gualda Vecchia, I’ll translate it here into Italian, you can find it in French on his article:
Staying at Podere la Gualda Vecchia
The first – and biggest – treasure of our weekend was our base camp: Podere La Gualda Vecchia.

Located in the heart of the Monteverdi Marittimo hills, this splendid farmhouse has been lovingly and passionately restored by Bruna and Daniel, warm and welcoming hosts who know the area like the back of their hand.
La Gualda Vecchia is one of those places that are hard to leave once you set foot here. Places that leave an indelible memory, such is the intense sense of well-being, peace, and calm that you breathe.
It’s hard to choose what seduced us the most: the “emotional” garden where we could stay for hours, the hot tub with a breathtaking view of the entire valley, the vegetable garden where we could pick seasonal vegetables, the breakfasts on the terrace, or the dinners under the pergola in the company of our hosts.
We particularly appreciated the attention to aesthetics and the layout of the spaces. Everything was designed down to the smallest detail, including the bath towels and sheets made by Tuscan artisans.

Bruna and Daniel will also advise you on the many things to do in the area. Not to mention the gastronomic addresses and wine excellences (the Bolgheri area is just a stone’s throw from Gualda Vecchia).
In short: staying at the beautiful Podere la Gualda Vecchia is a unique experience, which once again demonstrates the beauty, diversity, and quality of the SlowStayInItaly network that I love so much. A place that, of course, I recommend more than warmly!
